When History Beckons the Future: akaVerse and the Digital Revolution at the Central Bureau of South Vietnam Base

Amidst the old-growth forests of Tan Bien, Tay Ninh, the National Historical Site of the Central Bureau of South Vietnam Base stands not only as a witness to a time of bombs and bullets but also as an indomitable symbol of Vietnamese will. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, this site underwent a landmark restoration and enhancement. Going beyond reinforcing the thatched-roof houses and communication trenches , this project boldly invited modern digital technology, transforming the relic into a vibrant historical experience space. And on this meaningful journey, FPT Corporation, with its pioneering akaVerse solution, played a pivotal role, breathing new life into the former “resistance capital”.

Transcending the Limits of Traditional Exhibition

Preserving and promoting the value of revolutionary historical sites always faces the challenge of connecting the past with the present generation, especially the youth. Artifacts and images, no matter how precious, can hardly convey the full intensity and heroism of a historical period if they merely rest behind glass cases. Recognizing this, the restoration project aimed not only at material preservation but also at “digitizing memories.”

Digital technology was applied to store and preserve documents and images, while also serving as a foundation for new exhibition methods. Artistically designed lighting, combined with digital screens, helps highlight the beauty and stories behind each artifact, offering a depth of information and emotion that traditional methods struggle to achieve.

akaVerse: Guiding the Way into the Heroic Realm of Memory

The heart of the technological revolution at the Central Bureau of South Vietnam Base is the central projection room, where the akaVerse solution – “Make in Vietnam, Made by FPT” – fully demonstrates its power. This is not just an ordinary screening room, but a multi-dimensional historical experience space, exquisitely designed:

  • A Grand Historical Panorama: akaVerse’s advanced 3D Mapping projection technology transforms the curved panorama wall into a giant screen. On it, precious documentary footage and elaborate graphic images are vividly recreated, recounting heroic historical stories with impressive image and sound quality.
  • Intelligent Interactive Model: The unique feature lies in the seamless integration of the curved screen and a physical model (diorama) simulating the base’s terrain. Light effects and images from the projectors are displayed not only on the screen but also interact directly with the model, simulating troop movements, base locations, or the progression of battles. This combination creates an experience that is both intuitive and profound, helping viewers easily visualize and connect events within the actual space.
  • Recreating Golden Moments: akaVerse doesn’t just project; it “reconstructs” history. The 1967 Junction City sweep operation – one of the largest and fiercest battles in the war zone – is recreated with authentic detail. Viewers can sense the scale of the enemy’s operation, the tense confrontation, and above all, the courageous and ingenious fighting spirit of our army and people who crushed the enemy’s plot and safely protected the headquarters. Furthermore, the arduous formation process, the critical strategic location, and the “heart” role of the Central Bureau in leading the revolution in the South are also interpreted coherently and engagingly through technology.
  • Awakening Historical Emotions: akaVerse’s goal is not only to provide knowledge but also to create an “emotional time travel journey”. By artfully combining images, sound, light, and space, the technology touches the viewers’ hearts, evoking national pride and deep gratitude for the generations who sacrificed their blood for independence and freedom.

FPT’s Partnership with Heritage

The presence of FPT and the akaVerse solution in this project holds special significance. It not only demonstrates the leading technological capabilities of a Vietnamese corporation but also shows its commitment and responsibility towards preserving and promoting the nation’s cultural heritage. Applying “Make in Vietnam” technology to a key national historical project proves that Vietnamese technology can fully meet the most demanding requirements, contributing to enhancing the value of heritage.

With systematic investment and the application of advanced technologies like akaVerse, the National Historical Site of the Central Bureau of South Vietnam Base has truly transformed. It is no longer just a place for reminiscence but has become an attractive destination, a “living museum” where history is told in a modern language, captivating all ages, especially the young generation.

Come to the Central Bureau of South Vietnam Base not only to offer incense in remembrance but also to immerse yourself in the historical space recreated by cutting-edge technology, to listen to the echoes of the past through the lens of the future, and to feel even more deeply the pride in a heroic Vietnam.
